They are planning to use the cyberknife on three of her brain tumors in hopes of reducing the symptoms she is experiencing. In turn, the hope is that she will also be able to reduce her steroid dosage at some point following the cyberknife treatment. We are still waiting to hear back from the technician to schedule the actual treatment, but theoretically it will be sometime within the next two weeks. She will continue with her Temodar treatment on the current schedule with the next round set to begin on June 23. There will be another brain MRI at some point (not sure of the exact timing) following this round to determine the effectiveness of the Temodar treatments.
The medical oncologist gave her permission today to discontinue the iron supplements and that was met with welcome by Bobbie as they were giving her some discomfort over the past few months. He also prescribed a shower seat and cane for her today. The cane is strictly to help with the difficulty she is having in standing from a seated position and climbing stairs. The steroids are really doing a number on her hip and leg muscles. On the insulin note, she has had to take a few doses since the last update, but not with any regularity. Her blood sugar continues to bounce around quite a bit.
Not much else to report at the moment other than that she is looking very forward to Killian's birthday party in a couple of weeks and a recent gift of a trip to the Great Wolf Lodge in Williamsburg for the three of us in July from a good family friend (you know who you are and thank you again).
The next update will likely follow the cyberknife treatment whenever that gets scheduled.
